About Amanda Pirot

Bio

Thank you for checking out this website.

Amanda Pirot creates one-of-a-kind pet portrait paintings in watercolor to reflect the unique qualities of a dog's personality.  She is thrilled to share her portraits with Mill Valley, a Northern California community of the most ardent dog lovers around (and all dog loving communities across the U.S. and abroad). Her passion is combining watercolor portrait painting and dogs into visual pet stories. Most recently, she has added cat and people portrait paintings to her repertoire.

Amanda studied art at a prominent NYC high school and The Art Student’s League in NYC. She completed her bachelors degree, minoring in studio art from Washington University in St. Louis. After a 20+ year career in marketing strategy in San Francisco and NYC, she returned to her first two childhood loves: painting and dogs. Growing up. Amanda and her family had three Tibetan Lhasa Apso dogs (Pokey, Pixie, and Choo Choo). Amanda showed one (Pixie, a warm golden colored Lhasa) in obedience competitions and even won a 1st prize.

Amanda's art (including political and celebrity portrait drawings, textile design, and watercolor portrait paintings) have been exhibited in St. Louis, Philadelphia (The Fabric Workshop), Gatlinburg, TN (Arrowmont Center - International Surface Design Association Contest), Mill Valley, CA (The Depot Bookstore, Coldwell Banker), San Anselmo (Creekside Art Gallery Annex), Equator Coffees, Mill Valley, Larkspur, and Sausalito. Sonoma, CA too.

After diving head first into painting political portraits throughout 2016, she turned her full attention in 2017 to pet portrait commissions after the elections. She still uses her Kolinsky watercolor handmade sable paint brush from her very 1st watercolor class.

What Clients Are Saying

"My husband told me that he got me a present I could never guess.  I just opened my presents and started to cry happy tears.  Not only do the portraits look like our furry kids, but this gift shows an extra step of love.  Your just don’t just run into a store and pick up something.  It takes extra time and a deep understanding of your loved one. Thank you." C.A., Marin County, CA
